Why Products Get Rejected

You've just uploaded your product and are excited for it to be live on Superhive (formerly Blender Market) and start selling. But wait! It just got rejected. :(

Recommended documentation reading order:

General Product Guidelines: READ THIS FIRST before creating your product page.
How to Upload: Read after reviewing the General Product Guidelines
Why Products Get Rejected: The document you are currently reading.
Tips for Success: Read after your first successful publication.

Do not use the Blender logo or 'Blender' branding as a design element in product images. Only the Blender Foundation can use its logo commercially. Violations result in immediate rejection.

It's not the end of the world if your product gets rejected—you can, after all, make the requested changes and resubmit—but it can be frustrating. This article identifies and explains some common reasons that products are rejected.

Before resubmitting, you must address ALL reviewer feedback. Resubmitting without changes wastes time and may affect your submission privileges. If the feedback is unclear, contact the reviewer for clarification rather than resubmitting, as an incomplete resubmission will delay your product's approval.

1. Missing Textures

Be sure to pack your textures with your models before uploading them to Superhive (formerly Blender Market). If you don't and there are no textures with the product (and there are supposed to be), your product will be rejected.

2. Shaders Not Linking to the Packed Textures

In addition to making sure that your textures are packed, make sure that your shaders are linked to the correct textures.

3. Poor Product Description

"Add-on that helps rig and animate cats" as your product description won't cut it, unfortunately. Every product is different, so we can't tell you exactly what you need to include in your product description, but you should always hit at least these few main points:

  • What your product is
  • What your product does or what it allows others to do
  • What makes your product unique or special

Make sure that your description is clear and complete. It should let prospective customers know exactly what they will be getting when they buy your product.

For tips on how to write a strong product description, take a look at Write Great Product Descriptions on the Superhive (formerly Blender Market) Blog.

4. Poor or Incomplete Written Documentation

Along with installation instructions, you should also have written instructions for how to use your add-on in all aspects. It's also a great idea to include FAQs that may be useful to your customers.

Documentation must be written directly on your Superhive product page. Submitting incomplete documentation to bypass form validation is not acceptable and will result in immediate rejection. Similarly, providing only a link to a YouTube tutorial or external documentation without written on-site instructions is insufficient because external links break over time, leaving customers without support when videos are deleted or websites change.

5. Incomplete Form Data

Leaving placeholder text like 'Lorem ipsum' or 'Description goes here' in any field results in rejection. Every field must be properly completed before submission. This will result in immediate rejection and will delay the time it takes to get your product approved.

6. Issues with Images

Let potential customers see your product in all its glory! We recommend adding 4–6 product images in addition to the featured image. A minimum of 5 images total is required, they should all be at least 1200px wide, in PNG or JPG format. Images need to be in a 2:1 aspect ratio (1200 x 600 is perfect!) to better fit the site design. These images are an opportunity to present a new view of your product, demonstrate its functionality, or show it in action. You can use static images or gifs.

  • Must have a minimum of 5 images
  • Must be 2:1 aspect ratio (1200x600, 920×460, 2560×1280, etc.)
  • Must show product features, not just beauty shots
  • Check out our image recommendations in How to Upload Your Products.
