Support Periods Overview

When you buy a product on Superhive that includes a Support Period, you're getting more than a download. You're getting a 12-month guarantee from the creator that the product will be actively supported, maintained, and improved. That guarantee is backed by Superhive.

What a Support Period Includes

For 12 months from your purchase date, the creator of that product is required to:

  • Respond to support requests via Superhive inbox within 3 business days, excluding weekends and holidays
  • Grant you permanent and unrestricted access to any new versions of the product
  • Make a good faith effort to keep the product compatible with the current Blender LTS version

Every update and file you receive during your support period is permanently yours. When the period ends, nothing is taken away, the creator's obligation to continue supporting your purchase expires.

How this benefits you

Superhive Holds Creators Accountable

This is the part that matters most. When you purchase a product with a Support Period, Superhive is standing behind that promise, not just the creator of the product. If a creator fails to honor their support obligations, Superhive will work with them to get you the help you need,  Creators understand that violating support expectations may result in punitive measures including revoking their creator status.

That means if you're not getting the support you paid for, you have somewhere to go. Contact our support team and we'll step in to help make sure you get what you paid for. You can't get that kind of platform-level accountability anywhere else. On Superhive, you're not alone when something goes wrong.

Products Stay Alive Longer

One of the most common frustrations in the Blender ecosystem is products getting abandoned. For example, an add-on that stops working after a Blender update, or a tool that hasn't been touched in years. This happens because creators can't sustain their work on one-time sales alone. The income dries up, and the product quietly dies.

Support Periods change that. When customers who are still getting value from a product can financially support its continued development, creators have both the means and the motivation to keep going. That translates directly into products that stay functional, remain compatible, and keep receiving fixes and features, which is exactly what you want from something you rely on in your workflow.

Creators Who Are Paid Do Better Work

Creators making a sustainable living from their products are the ones who actually fix bugs, add requested features, and stay on top of Blender compatibility. It's not a coincidence, it's a resources problem. When ongoing support is financially viable for a creator, your product benefits. Support Periods are the mechanism that makes that possible.

How It Works

Support Periods last 12 months from your purchase date. They are not a subscription. There are no automatic renewals and no recurring charges. You will never be surprised by an unexpected charge.

When your support period expires, everything you received during that timeframe is still yours. What ends is the creator's obligation to continue providing support and updates beyond that point.

If the product is still being actively developed and you want to stay current, you have the option to extend your support period at any time at a discounted amount of the current product price. That's entirely your choice.

You can purchase an additional support period months after the expiration of your original support period and the 12 months will begin again at the time of your purchase.  Your discount still applies.  If you purchase a support period while you have an active support period on that product, your additional support period will be added to the end of your existing support period, extending it for another 12 months with no gap.

Not Every Product Has a Support Period

Support Periods are available on products where creators have opted into the program. Products that don't participate are sold "as is". There's no platform guarantee of support or updates, though a creator may still choose to update them. You'll always see clearly whether a support period is included with a product before you purchase, so you can make an informed decision.

Where You'll See Your Support Period

On product pages. Any product that includes a Support Period will say so clearly before you buy.  You will also see the current percentage of cost for purchases of additional support periods should you choose to grab another 12 months of support in the future.

Note: the percentage displayed on the product page in relation to extending the support period is the percentage of the price which would be charged for additional support periods if you choose to purchase a support period for the product after your initial 12 months expires.  For example, a $10 product displaying 25% to extend a support period would cost $2.50 should you choose to extend.  This cost will be displayed on the product page after completing your initial purchase.

On your orders page. After purchase, your orders page shows the status of your support period and how much time remains.

In messages with the creator. When you contact a creator through your Superhive inbox, your support period status is visible in the message thread to both you and the creator.
